June Update

Pilot Project

– our pilot project is going well. The first group has met twice, and are well into the project. They have also been asking a lot of questions, so we have tried to answer them on a new F.A.Q. page on our website. If you have questions about the project, email Transition Together-Blewbury. We have recruited a second group, and are arranging their first meeting for July.

Good News

– We have been looking for further funding for the Blewbury Transition Together Project for some time, and at last we have a sponsor for some of our expenses: Didcot Power Station has given us a grant that covers both publicity and  extra equipment we need.

We are also grateful to DC Lighting  for supplying the low energy light bulbs for our light bulb library. We still need to raise funding for printing more work books, but we are on our way at last.

Blewbury Recycle &   Free Event

- Sunday 1st July 2-4 pm Vale Room, Village Hall Stuff for free and a cup of tea! Moving house?  Having a clearout? Don’t throw it out – give it away. Someone will want it! Please bring books, toys, household goods, costume jewellery, bric-a-brac, small electrical items with CE mark. No clothes or large items, but these can be advertised on our board if you bring details. Items not taken will go to a charity

Take advantage of free insulation offer

– Energy suppliers are obligated under the CERT (Carbon Emissions Reduction Target) scheme to insulate domestic households. Energy companies are doing this by offering insulation for free. The target will be over by the end of 2012, so take advantage of it NOW. Both free cavity wall Insulation and free loft insulation are on offer. Get your home insulated for free this summer before the funds run out! Read more about it.

The recyclenow website has advice about all sorts of recycling, including composting. It’s the time of year to start composting at home, so feed your garden, not landfill!

And to buy a cheap compost bin go to the Oxfordshire Waste Partnership website. This website also tells you how to get a free Love Food Hate Waste recipe book and RECYCLING A-Z, (a guide to recycling and reusing in Oxfordshire)
